Mission Statement

Marianne Hurley, MS, RNP
Geriatric Nurse Practitioner, Geriatrics/Lifespan

 

Marianne Hurley, RNP has practiced as a Geriatric Nurse Practitioner (GNP) with University Medicine/Division of Geriatrics/Lifespan for the past 18 years caring for patients in primary care, LTC, subacute, and homecare settings.

 

Initially a Diploma School Graduate, she earned her BSN, MSN in Nursing Education, and a post-Master’s certificate  in the FNP program at the University of Rhode Island. She is nationally certified as an FNP, GNP, and in Wound Care. She is certified through Rhode Island Department of Health as a Diabetic Educator and holds a Sheridan Teaching Certificate from Brown University.

 

Marianne is an experienced RN with over 45 years experience that include CCU, ER/Trauma, ICU, Primary Care, LTC, Medical/Surgical, and Visiting Nurse Services. As a Teaching Associate in Gerontological Medicine at the Warren Alpert School of Medicine, Brown University, she educates medical students, residents, and fellows. She also serves as Adjunct Faculty at the University of Rhode Island/FNP Program and precepts NP students.

 

Her committed service to the RINP Council spans two decades as Chair or Co-Chair. She also has served on the Nominating Committee and Cabinet for Nursing Practice  for Rhode Island State Nurses Association, as Co-Chair  with the Medical Advisory Board  RI Department of Health/Women’s Cancer Screening Program,  and a  member of the Mid-Level Advisory Board for Blue Cross/Blue Shield. She was recently asked to be a member of the RI Healthcare Reform Commission/Clinician’s Leadership Council.

 

Marianne has been actively involved with AANP as RI State Representative from 1997-2010, a Commissioner on the Certification Committee/AANP since 2006, and a committee member for Orientation for New State Representatives, before becoming Region 1 Director in 2011.

 

She is a member of AANP, GAPNA, and RISNA (Rhode Island State Nurses). She was awarded the State Award for Excellence for AANP and The Carol Leitar Excellence Award for Rhode Island State Nurses.

 

Marianne is a devoted grandmother who loves visiting and keeping pace with her grandchildren in Hong Kong, when they visit in Rhode Island and via SKYPE. She also enjoys daily beach walks, knitting, making Nantucket Baskets, stained glass, and quilting.
