A limited number of Fellows are selected each year. Invited candidates for FAANP are required to be AANP members and to be sponsored by two Fellows of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.  At least one of the two sponsors must be a Fellow in the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.  Current Fellows are limited to serving as the primary sponsor of only one candidate per year. 

Individuals who are considered for selection as a FAANP must show evidence of:

• Outstanding contributions and leadership in the areas of NP clinical practice, research, education and/or health policy;
• Significance and scope of influence of the applicant's efforts;
• Continuing commitment and leadership in NP clinical practice, research, education or health policy;
• Potential for contributing to the mission of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and to FAANP initiatives.

Applications for 2010 FAANP Candidates will be sent to active Fellows in October 2009.  Fellows in turn share the applications with individuals they have selected to sponsor for the following year.
