JAANP (the Journal of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners) is seeking manuscripts for a special issue related to the obesity epidemic. This issue will address topics related to obesity stigma, discrimination, and the use of individual and population-level interventions as a means to achieving weight reduction. Understanding that NPs not only frequently counsel individual patients and families on healthy eating and exercise habits, but are often themselves affected and thus undoubtedly recognize the barriers to achieving an ideal weight, JAANP is requesting research and theory papers that represent unique frameworks addressing how NPs can act as advocates for reducing stigma and affect individual and environmental changes intended to reduce obesity and promote health in our society.
