"How many contact hours do I need to re-certify?

  • The number of contact hours required for recertification varies by certifying body.  Please check with your certifying body for specifics.  At this time, the AANP Certification Program requires 75 contact hours in your specialty.  While the AANP Certification Program is an AANP affiliate organization, it is separately incorporated. More information about AANP Certification is listed HERE.

Do you know of any programs in my specialty/area/on these dates?

  • Please check for relevant programs in the AANP CE Center, as well as the complimentary  CE Calendar and Independent Studies pages.  These are all  accredited by the AANP.   You can also contact any of AANP Approved Providers to see if they have a program right for you.

How do I know if a program is accredited and whether you will accept it?

  • Program Sponsors should state on their brochures how they are accredited.  You can also contact them directly.  Regarding whether or not a program is “accepted”, you will need to contact your certification program to determine the type of credit accepted.

Can I get credit for a conference I attended?

    • AANP will not accredit a program retroactively.  See if the CE they offered is suitable for your needs by contacting your state board or certifying organization. (AANP Certificationcertification@aanp.org )

How do I know if a program is accredited for NPs?

    • Program Sponsors should state on their brochures how they are accredited.   Any program approved by AANP will have an accreditation statement, with the amount of credit awarded.

How do I get my CE Certificate for a previous conference or other program?  I’ve lost my certificate how do I get it replaced?

    • Contact the Sponsor of the program to receive/replace your certificate of completion. You can access records of activities completed through the AANP CE Center.  Requests specific to the AANP Conference should be referred to conference@aanp.org

How many contact hours do I have (do you keep track)?

    • AANP currently tracks only those contact hours you complete thru our website (see CE Center) and at our National Conference.

How do I submit my paperwork to get my  CE Certificate?

    • Submit any request for certificates to the programs’ Sponsors directly or as indicated on the program's instructions page.

What is the difference between a "CEU" vs a contact hour?

    • Most continuing education for nurse practitioners is given in contact hours.  A CEU equals approximately 10 contact hours
