AANP Foundation Professional Staff

 

The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Foundation (AANP Foundation) is an independently incorporated 501(c)(3) philanthropic nonprofit organization. Beginning operations in March 1998, the AANP Foundation operates for the benefit of nurse practitioners of all specialties. Many AANP Foundation programs are exclusive AANP member benefits. Organizational operations are overseen by the following staff members:

 

Executive Director 

Kay Todd

Kay Todd, PhD, CAE joined the AANP Foundation in February 2010. Dr Todd started her career as a medical technologist specializing in Hematology. She became the school coordinator for the School of Medical Technology at Presbyterian Hospital. In that role, she was designated as an adjunct professor to the University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma State University and other colleges throughout Oklahoma. She worked with the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, coordinating continuing education courses in the United States and Europe. Dr. Todd began her career with the American Lung Association as program director, and moved into leadership positions as executive director of Green Country Oklahoma, CEO of the state of Oklahoma and regional vice president at the national level. Dr. Todd’s experience includes: fundraising, program development, and public health messaging, advocacy and marketing/public relations. She has consulted with over sixty nonprofit organizations on governance, strategic planning and organizational readiness and has been an adjunct professor at the University of Oklahoma in the Human Relations Department. She holds the Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation from the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE). Her degree is in Mythological Studies with Emphasis in Depth Psychology, allowing her to specialize in using story for organizational transitions and image branding. She is the author of several books and articles on nonprofit management, including co-author of the Volunteer Board Member’s Complete Guide to CEO Hiring and Evaluation.

 

Director of Programs & Operations

Margaret Crump, MPH

Margaret Crump, MPH joined the AANP Foundation in April 2010. Mrs. Crump works to support organizational programs and activities and is responsible for volunteer involvement.  Prior to joining the AANP Foundation, Mrs. Crump most recently worked for the University of Tulsa Department of Nursing and served as Senior Vice President of Community Initiatives and Advocacy at the American Lung Association of Central States.  Before that, she implemented healthcare software and worked in corporate wellness for the Cooper Institute for Aerobics Research.  She specializes in strategic planning, program implementation, consolidation of operations, and development.  Mrs. Crump is a graduate of Oklahoma Baptist University with a Bachelors of Science in Exercise Science Sports Medicine.  She earned her MPH from the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center.

 

Marketing & PR Consultant

Lea Ann Purvis

Lea Ann Purvis, MPA has a passion for nonprofits and brings current and practical experience to the board room, staff meetings and volunteer activities.  Her specialties include extensive organizational leadership, management consulting, facilitation, strategic planning and consensus building.

 

Lea Ann is experienced in outcome based communication, program design and implementation, public policy, negotiation, and volunteer leadership.  She has spent her professional life working with not-for-profit boards, foundations, governmental agencies and community change agents.

 

Ms. Purvis has a Masters Degree in Public Administration with a Health Care Emphasis, and a Bachelors Degree in Mass Communication.  Lea Ann can be reached at lapurvis@comcast.net.
