When did the AANP Foundation begin operations?

The AANP Foundation began operations in March 1998 as the first national foundation operating to benefit NPs of all specialties.

 

Is the AANP Foundation a department of the AANP?

No, the AANP Foundation is a separately incorporated 501(c)(3) philanthropic non-profit organization that is governed by its own independent board of directors.  The AANP Foundation is a sister organization of the AANP.

 

Who are your board members?

The AANP Foundation Board of Directors is currently made up of 4 NP members and 3 non-NP corporate members.  The president of the board must always be an NP.  A list of current board members can be found on the AANP Foundation website.

 

Does the AANP Foundation have members?

No, the AANP Foundation does not have members.  However, many of the AANP Foundation’s programs are exclusive member benefits for members of the AANP.

 

I want to become a nurse practitioner.  Can you tell me what where I should go to school and what the requirements will be?

The AANP Foundation does not provide this information.  You can obtain contact information for NP programs located in the U.S. on the AANP website.  Every program is different, you will need to contact the university that you are interested in attending to find out what their program requirements are.

 

Does the AANP Foundation offer financial aide?

No.  The AANP Foundation offers assistance in the form of the AANP Foundation Scholarship & Grant Program which provides educational scholarships for NP-related education and grants for NP-related healthcare projects and research.

 

Does the AANP Foundation offer assistance below the MSN-NP level?

No.  The AANP Foundation Scholarship & Grant Program offers educational scholarships for MSN-NP, Post-MS NP, and Doctoral level education and grants for student NPs and practicing NPs.

 

I am a DNP student but not an NP, am I eligible to apply for your doctoral scholarships?

No.  Only NPs that are DNP students are eligible to apply for our doctoral level scholarships.

 

I just got accepted into my NP-related educational program, when can I apply for a scholarship?

To be eligible for AANP Foundation scholarships, you must be currently enrolled in and taking courses in your NP-related educational program and have completed a certain percentage of your program requirements.

 

Do I have to be a member of the AANP to apply for the AANP Foundation Scholarship & Grant Program?

Yes.  The program is an exclusive AANP member benefit.  If not already an AANP member, you can submit your new member application with your scholarship or grant application materials.

 

Are the eligibility requirements for your scholarships and grants all the same?

No.  Eligibility requirements vary from offering to offering and may vary from funding cycle to funding cycle.

 

When can I apply for AANP Foundation Scholarships and Grants?

The AANP Foundation currently offers 2 annual funding cycles.  The first funding cycle is published in February and the second funding cycle is published in August/September.

 

Do you offer the same Scholarships and Grants every funding cycle?

No.  Scholarship and grant offerings vary from funding cycle to funding cycle based on sponsorships, donations, and special event proceeds.  Offerings not awarded during a particular funding cycle may be rolled over and offered again during the next funding cycle, but this is not guaranteed.

 

How many Scholarships and Grants can I apply for?

You may apply for as many scholarships and grants as you are eligible for.  The application review and award process is competitive, not all applicants will be awarded.  The more that you apply for, the greater your chance of being chosen as an award recipient.

 

How many Scholarships and Grants can I be awarded?

Applicants are eligible to receive only one scholarship or grant per any given funding cycle and are not eligible to apply for additional funding until the end of their awarded funding cycle year.

 

Has anyone ever been awarded more that one scholarship or grant?

Yes, we have several award recipients that have been awarded multiple scholarships and grants.  When their funding year expired, they applied for additional scholarships and grants.

 

Can I make a donation to the AANP Foundation?

Yes.  Donations are tax-deductible.  Donations can be mailed to the AANP Foundation or made online.  Donations $10 and over will receive a thank you letter for tax purposes.

 

Can I make a donation in honor of someone else?

Yes.  Please contact the AANP Foundation for more information.

 

Can I sponsor a scholarship or grant and have it named after me?

Yes.  Please contact the AANP Foundation for more information.

 

Can my company sponsor a scholarship or grant and have it named after them?

Yes.  Please contact the AANP Foundation for more information.

 

Is AANP Foundation Store merchandise available for purchase online?

Not currently.  If you purchased something or saw something at an AANP Foundation Store at an annual AANP National Conference and would like to know if it is available for purchase, please contact us to see if we have it in stock and if it is available for mail order.  Merchandise remaining in stock after conference may be available for mail order.

 

How can I volunteer to help the AANP Foundation?

The AANP Foundation relies heavily on the help of volunteers.  If you are an NP faculty member &/or preceptor and would like to volunteer to act as an AANP Foundation Scholarship & Grant Program Reviewer, please download the reviewer form from the Scholarship & Grant section of our website.  If you are interested in the possibility of volunteering to work at the AANP Foundation Store at the next AANP National Conference, please contact us to find out what our volunteer needs are.

 

My company has end of year money that needs to be spent before the end of our fiscal year.  Can we pay for next year’s sponsorship &/or NPCPC membership this year?
