Karen A. Brykszynski
DNSc, RN, FNP, FAANP
Dr. Brykszynski completed her family nurse practitioner (FNP) program in 1980 as a postmaster's student while she was a Robert Wood Johnson Nurse Faculty Fellow in Primary Care at the University of Colorado Health Science Center, School of Nursing. She earned her doctorate of nursing science in Family Health Care Nursing at the University of California-San Francisco, School of Nursing. Her dissertation research about the clinical practice of nurse practitioners formed the underlying framework for the NONPF curriculum guidelines in 1990 that have been used by NPs for a variety of purposes.
She has played a leadership role in NP education and continues to provide leadership through presentations, consultations, and publications locally, nationally, and internationally.
