Barbara Todd has an accomplished career as a nurse practitioner; including receipt of the 2002 New Jersey State AANP Award for Excellence and the 2000 AANP award for best clinical practice podium presentation. Her career has focused on cardiovascular care, and she presents at regional, national, and international conferences. She is widely published on cardiovascular care and the role of nurse practitioners. Ms. Todd is the director for Professional Development, Practice and Education for Advanced Practitioners at the Hospital University of Pennsylvania. She practices with the cardiac surgeons with a specialty interest of valvular heart disease, as well as faculty preceptor for the ACNP students. She is certified as an acute care and family nurse practitioner. She holds bachelors and masters degrees in nursing from Howard University and Virginia Commonwealth University, respectively. She received her doctor of nursing practice from Thomas Jefferson University in 2010.
