American Association of Nurse Practitioners® (AANP) News Feed Guest Author Guidelines

The News Feed is AANP’s premier destination for nurse practitioner (NP) news and information, reaching more than 200,000 readers annually.

Please review the following guest author guidelines. Any submissions that do not meet these requirements will not be considered for publication.

All articles should be tailored toward NPs and include topics, information or news that is current, pertinent and of interest to NPs or the NP role. The AANP News Feed is not a promotional channel, and, as such, articles are not permitted to sell or promote the sale of specific pharmaceuticals, products, services, conferences or companies.

The News Feed is your way to provide NPs with the information they need to better serve their patients and communities, not a venue to attain brand positioning, corporate awareness or sales.

Guest articles should fall into one of the following categories. Some articles may fall into multiple categories:

  • Education: Free educational opportunities, continuing education* (CE), webinars, guidebooks or flipcharts, patient education resources, etc.
  • Practice: Clinical news or information that affects NP practice, the health care industry, patient issues (safety, cost, demographics), etc.
*CE should be accredited by AANP, though exceptions can be made for unique circumstances. Contact AANP for details.

Articles should fall between 1,000–2,000 words and contain topics, information or news that is current, pertinent and of interest to NPs or the NP role. AANP uses Associated Press (AP) Style as its brand standard for writing and it is recommended that submissions be composed to that professional standard, clearly written and free of errors and grammatical inconsistencies.

Articles featuring headers, subheads, bullet points, images and other engaging formatting are encouraged. Please be sure to include a title as part of your submission. AANP reserves the right to lightly edit your article (for basic AP Style compliance, spelling, grammar, formatting, etc.). Articles requiring heavy editing for clarity or content will be rejected outright.

All articles are subject to final approval by AANP and may be rejected for any reason at any time before publishing. AANP will respond to all submissions in a timely manner, approving or declining the article for publication.

Author Credit:

AANP will credit the guest author at the beginning of the article post. Please provide the author’s name, credentials, and current professional position.
