AANP At-A-Glance

The mission of AANP, a full-service national professional membership organization for NPs of all specialties, is to lead NPs in transforming patient centered health care.

Membership

With more than 75,000 individual members and 200 NP Organization members, AANP represents the interests of more than 234,000 licensed NPs in the United States. NP members may qualify for a $10.00 discount on membership dues, if you belong to a local, state or national organization that is a current member of AANP. For a list of current NP organization members, visit orglistings.aanp.org.

Advocacy and Government Affairs

AANP believes that NPs should have an lead role in our health care system and we work at the national and state levels to shape health policy.

Our top priorities are modernizing state practice laws and removing barriers that prevent patients from accessing the full services of NPs.  Over the past two years, with AANP's assistance, more than 30 state laws were passed in support of NPs and their patients. These included laws for admitting privileges, signature recognition, advanced directives and prescriptive authority.  AANP's federal staff works with Members of Congress, CMS, regulators and national policy stakeholders on implementation of provisions in the Affordable Care Act, modernizing Medicare and Medicaid laws and regulations, medical homes for NPs, and appropriations.

AANP members are encouraged to log into their MyAANP account for additional policy supports created exclusively for our members.

AANP hosts a variety of conferences annually, including National, Specialty & Leadership and Health Policy.
