    Charge/Purpose

    The purpose of the committee is to sustain an infrastructure that will uphold the definition of diversity, which the committee has defined as:

    • Encompassing the acceptance and respect of individuals with different life experiences
    • Accepting, embracing, exploring and nurturing differences that make members of the organization unique
    • Demonstrating a culture of inclusivity that is evident throughout all aspects of the organization.

    1. Review and/or respond to staff requests regarding proposed laws, regulations, guidance and policies that impact NPs, as needed, to support the mission
    2. Respond to requests from AANP’s staff to assist in the development of comments (both formal and informal) to questions or issues regarding proposed laws, regulations, guidance or policies that impact NPs or their patients
    3. Provide educational sessions and networking opportunities related to policy for members
    4. Other policy related initiatives relevant to the mission and vision of AANP

    2. Encourage ongoing and significant communication and collaboration with the ICN and other organizations devoted to international NP/Advanced practice nurse (APN) issues
    3. Perform an international needs survey
    4. Create and monitor the AANP international listserv for the purpose of exchange on international NP/APN experiences
    5. Assist with international experiences
    6. Provide assistance to requesting organizations on international issues
    7. Increase visibility of AANP international efforts/materials
    8. Formalize and increase activities of the AANP International NP Forum
