Leadership Experience in the Past Three Years

I have served as a regional program coordinator for the Massachusetts coalition of nurse practitioners. I have also served as the Massachusetts state liaison for AANP for the past year.

Biggest Challenge Facing Nurse Practitioners and How AANP Can Help

For NPs to continue to play a respected role in the delivery of healthcare, there needs to be an overhaul in the masters level preparation, we need a vigorous emphasis on clinical skills. We should be involved in making sure that the accreditation process for advanced education requires this Bringing to providers to underserved areas would be the other focus. I think that AANP should be involved in. There are parts of the country with too many providers and then large areas where it is very difficult to obtain primary care.

Example of Initiative or Outcome of Leadership

I think that I am skilled at explaining why the things that Mcnp and AANP do are important to Nurse, Practitioners in their daily clinical lives. One outcome is increased participation in programs for the Massachusetts collision in Nurse Practitioner’s on Cape Cod and resent outreach to marthas Vineyard and Nantucket.

If Elected, I Propose to Advance the AANP Mission as Follows

Encouraging us to require excellent, vigorous clinical programs, and that for care to be equitable, we need to reach the underserved areas of America, where it is sometimes difficult to get providers to move. For example, I live in a very beautiful part of the country, Cape Cod, but housing costs are so high that we have an extreme shortage of providers.
