Leadership Experience in the Past Three Years

I currently serve as Co-Chair on the City of Santa Barbara Community Development and Human Service Committee (CDHSC) and have been a member since 2015. CDHSC is an appointed position by the City Council and Mayor, which consists of issuing up to $900,000 a year in Federal Block Grant funding to local non-profits. As of 2023, this board has allocated approximately 7.2 million dollars to local non-profits. In addition to the CDHSC role, I am a Board Trustee at Santa Barbara City College - a 7-member board with the fiduciary responsibility of managing a 100-million-dollar budget. For the past three years, I have served in the following: 1. 2022 - 2023 Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Rho Delta Omega Chapter | Public Relations Chair 2. 2022 – 2023 Planned Parenthood Central Coast California - Board of Directors 3. 2022 – 2023 American Association of Nurse Practitioners - Health Policy Conference Planning Committee 4. 2022 – 2023 SBWPC - Executive Board Vice President of Policy 5. 2018 – 2023 California Board of Registered Nursing | APRN Advisory Committee Board Member Lastly, I plan on running for Santa Barbara County Democratic Committee in the March 2024 election.

Biggest Challenge Facing Nurse Practitioners and How AANP Can Help

I believe the APRN profession will continue to face unique challenges related to meeting the healthcare needs for the community at large due to existing and new laws designed to limit direct access to care. It is essential that AANP continues to advance their strategic plan as it relates to supporting key stakeholders and organizations that aligns with AANP’s mission.

Example of Initiative or Outcome of Leadership

I bring a servant leadership style that fosters a collaborative environment and motivates innovational ideas maintained by a transparent communication system. I have a diverse board and leadership history that will align my high respect for teamwork, fiduciary prudence, and solutions-oriented thinking to advance equitable access and person-centered, evidence-based health care for all communities through practice, education, advocacy, and research. I understand the Nomination Council's role and how important it is to maintain the public and our membership's trust when executing actions for the good of the organization rather than for the benefit of myself. Working as a Nurse Practitioner in California has been extremely challenging. Since 2011, the various challenges I have faced while attempting to deliver direct access to care led me to create a nursing corporation called Moore On Health™. My corporation is a multifaceted platform that includes but is not limited to the following services: 1. Delivery of personalized primary care, chronic pain, and medical addiction management 2. Support health care policy and social justice legislation 3. Champion efforts to address racism and anti-Blackness within the healthcare sector.

If Elected, I Propose to Advance the AANP Mission as Follows

AANP’s mission and strategic goals A through D aligns directly with my professional and personal priorities which is why I want to join this organization’s efforts to sustain an innovative forward-focused vision. As a dedicated member of our nation’s most trusted and largest healthcare profession, I understand the ethical obligation of supporting and implementing due process, utilizing advanced listening skills, critical thinking, and the intuitiveness to process evidence-based data for making critical decisions. My commitment to promoting a mission driven focused vision will improve and increase AANP’s membership engagement cultivating us as a world class organization.
