Dr. Laurel Hallock Koppelman is the Region 10 Director of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners® (AANP).
Dr. Hallock-Koppelman is a family nurse practitioner in Portland, Oregon. With more than eight years of experience in the primary care setting, she recently honed her skills in working with people with substance-use disorders and now works in a harm reduction clinic focused on providing access to life-saving medications. She has worked throughout her career to bring awareness to the NP role both at regional and national levels, educating legislators, hospital administrators and communities as to our strengths and impact on health care. While her passion for increasing access to buprenorphine takes up much of her time, she is also active in her state NPO and was the state’s liaison to AANP for the past four years. She enjoys teaching students, mentoring fellow colleagues on the appointment and promotion pathway in academia and on most weekends a rousing game of doubles tennis.
