Doreen Cassarino

Dr. Doreen Cassarino is the American Association of Nurse Practitioners® (AANP) Region 11 Director. She is a family nurse practitioner from Naples, Florida, in practice providing primary and specialty diabetes care. Cassarino is actively involved in legislative activities at local, state and national levels. While serving as Florida Nurse Practitioner Network (FNPN) president and vice president she directed the development of a strategy that propelled NP legislation to historic success. She has served as the AANP Florida State Representative, the Legislative Vice President for the Nurse Practitioner Council of Collier County and co-chair of the Florida Coalition of Advanced Practice Nurses, and she is the current Legislative Vice President for FNPN. Cassarino completed the AANP Leadership Program Inaugural Cohort, was appointed by the governor to the board of the Florida Center for Nurses and is now serving as its chair. She was appointed by the Florida Board of Nursing to chair the Formulary Committee that was mandated when the historic controlled substance bill was passed in 2016, and under her leadership, successfully preserved NP practice.

Cassarino has been recognized with numerous awards and accolades, including AANP Florida Advocacy Award and Florida Nurses Association Great 100 Nurses, and she was recognized as a model of exemplary leadership by the Institute of Medicine/Robert Wood Johnson Florida Action Coalition.
