Dr. Shanna Chapman is a family nurse practitioner (FNP) in Missouri and is employed as assistant dean of faculty for an FNP program. Dr. Chapman’s clinical practice provides pediatric forensic exams for the Children’s Advocacy Center in Pierce City, Missouri. Dr. Chapman has been an active leader in multiple professional organizations and is the primary founder of the Association of Missouri Nurse Practitioners (AMNP), where she has served as president and chief executive officer (CEO). She currently serves as AMNP vice president. She has held board positions for both Advance Practice Nurses of the Ozarks (APNO) and the Children’s Advocacy Center. Dr. Chapman has been a nurse since 1997, been an NP since 2005, earned her doctorate in nursing practice (DNP) in 2012 and became a Fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (FAANP) in 2016. She graduated from AANP’s mentorship program in 2015 and remains active as a fellow by reviewing abstracts for AANP’s conference and scholarship and grant applications. Dr. Chapman is passionate about NP practices, as demonstrated by her assistance in developing legislation while representing NPs at the capitol, where she meets legislators and testifies on NP issues. Dr. Chapman has had a multimedia outreach for improving patients’ access to care and improving NP practices through print, radio and television interviews.
