Call for Manuscripts

JAANP Themed Issue 2019 Nurse Practitioner Education

Submission Deadline: April 1, 2019

The Journal of American Association of Nurse Practitioners (JAANP) will publish a themed issue on nurse practitioner (NP) education during the last quarter of 2019. The issue’s guest co-editors are Drs. Mary Jo Goolsby, Geraldine Budd and Anne Thomas.

We invite the submission of scholarly, data-based manuscripts focusing on the academic preparation of NPs. The preference is for systematic or integrative reviews and research reports on topics such as, but not limited to:

  • Indicators of program excellence (e.g., beyond the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education [CCNE])
  • Measuring outcomes (e.g., clinical competencies, educational competencies, leadership skills, perceived readiness to practice)
  • NP curricular issues (e.g., standardized licensure, accreditation, certification and education [LACE] model, innovation, clinical hours, role of simulation)
  • Faculty role (e.g., preparation, mentoring, joint appointments, faculty practice imperative)
  • Outcomes based on varying program variables (e.g., BSN-DNP/MSN-DNP programs, delivery methods)
  • Preceptorship models
  • Managing clinical experiences
  • Other ideas also welcome; please contact editors to discuss

Manuscripts must be submitted no later than April 1, 2019. Authors submitting in response to this call should select Themed Issue” from the manuscript type drop-down menu. However, the manuscript must comply with the relevant article type defined in the author guidelines (qualitative research, quantitative research, systematic review, etc.). All manuscripts will be subjected to blinded peer review.
