I am excited to serve as the co-chair for the Endocrine SPG. I currently practice in an outpatient chronic disease clinic, providing outpatient care to recently discharged patients at high risk for readmission, largely focusing on patients with diabetes. My passion for caring for patients with endocrine disease started more than 25 years ago as a critical care nurse, grew during my time as an full-time NP working in endocrinology and continued through many years in various outpatient practices. I am currently finishing up service on a federal advisory board, the National Clinical Care Commission. The commission is charged with making recommendations to the Secretary of Health and Human services and Congress focused on prevention of diabetes and care of patients with diabetes. When I am not seeing patients, I am the Associate Dean of the DNP program at University of Maryland School of Nursing.
I am sure many of you, like me, share a love, ease and passion for caring for patients with endocrine disease. Others of you might have less comfort and are here looking for resources to gain proficiency in a complex subject. You are all in the right pyoutlace! Welcome to the Endocrine SPG! I look forward to collaborating with all of you, meeting you in person and through the forum.
