A Message From the Acute Care SPG Co-chairs

Patrick Laird, DNP, APRN, ACNP-BC, NEA-BC

Welcome to the Acute Care Specialty Practice Group! Our Acute Care SPG is one of the largest at the American Association of Nurse Practitioners® (AANP). Opportunities for nurse practitioners in acute care continue to expand. The Acute Care SPG is an excellent forum to ask questions, seek out resources and network. I am excited to serve as your Co-chair for this wonderful group. I look forward to facilitating this group and being a resource to members interested in acute care. I have been a registered nurse for 20 years and an acute care nurse practitioner for 14 years in pulmonary/critical care medicine. I currently serve as an Assistant Professor, Master of Science in Nursing Program Director and Coordinator of the Adult/Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program at the Cizik School of Nursing at UTHealth in Houston, Texas. Please visit the site often to share your knowledge and expertise with your peers.
