AUSTIN, TEXAS (July 15, 2026) – The American Association of Nurse Practitioners® (AANP) is pleased to announce the opening of nominations for the 2027 AANP Election. As a member-driven organization, AANP is strengthened by the leadership of a diverse group of members, elected by their peers to help guide the association and inform the future of the nurse practitioner (NP) role.
“Leadership is one of the defining qualities of the nurse practitioner profession,” said AANP President Valerie Fuller, PhD, DNP. “Whether you're leading at the bedside, in your practice or in your community, your perspective matters. I encourage qualified members to run for elected office and help guide the future of AANP and advance the profession we all care so deeply about.”
AANP individual members in good standing for the 12 months prior to July 15, 2026, are encouraged to self-nominate. Information about the elected leadership positions and eligibility requirements is available on the AANP Elections webpage. The deadline for nominations is Monday, Aug. 31, at 11:59 p.m. PT.
“Health care is evolving and the NP role is growing,” Fuller said. “By serving as an elected leader at AANP, you will help make important decisions about our role today and our future tomorrow.”
