AUSTIN, TEXAS — Nominations for the prestigious American Association of Nurse Practitioners® (AANP) State Award for Excellence are now being accepted. Awarded annually, the NP State Award for Excellence and the Advocate State Award for Excellence recognize individuals for their outstanding service on behalf of patients and the nurse practitioner (NP) role. Current AANP members are encouraged to help the association identify and honor a deserving NP and NP advocate in their state, district or territory.
Since its inception in 1991, the NP State Award for Excellence has recognized outstanding NP clinical practice and efforts to advance the image, profile and visibility of NPs. The state award was extended in 1993 to highlight the exceptional advocacy efforts of individuals who have made a significant contribution toward increasing the awareness and acceptance of NPs. Recipients of the Advocate State Award for Excellence are chosen for their contributions through ongoing work in policy, practice and education at the state level. Examples of past advocate recipients have been physicians, legislators, educators and others committed to the NP role. NPs are eligible for the advocate award based on nonclinical practice initiatives related to leadership, precepting, policy, politics, research, education or community affairs.
In addition to the distinction of being named 2022 AANP State Award for Excellence recipients, those selected will receive the following from AANP:
