This week represents a good opportunity to meet with your members of Congress while they are in their states and districts during the July 4th in-district work period. AANP encourages you to schedule a meeting with your representative and senators or attend a Town Hall Meeting, should that be on their schedule. Please urge them to cosponsor key pieces of nurse practitioner (NP) legislation, and if any of your congressional members have already signed on as a cosponsor, thank them for their support.
It is important to share the impact federal barriers to NP practice have on your practice and your patients. If a meeting isn’t possible, you can still advocate for your profession by sending letters available on the AANP Advocacy Center. Both the House and Senate will return to Washington D.C. early next week and will have a robust schedule until their next recess in August.
