As we continue to navigate the road ahead, we are focusing on treating patients and supporting advancements in treatments that may help us bring this chapter of COVID-19 to a close. Researchers are working tirelessly to find solutions, including vaccines, and are studying monoclonal antibody efficacy. This will help us combat the virus.
Now, the COVID-19 Prevention Network needs our help. We need to spread the message about volunteering for a COVID-19 prevention clinical study. We need volunteers, a diverse group of adults of all ages and backgrounds, especially older adults, individuals from diverse ethnicities and individuals with preexisting medical conditions that put them at a greater risk of developing complications if they should get COVID-19 — conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, kidney disease and heart disease.
AANP President Sophia L. Thomas, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, PPCNP, FNAP, FAANP, also notes that there is a special need for convalescent plasma donors. If you, a family member, a friend or a patient have recovered from COVID-19, please consider being a plasma donor or encouraging others to donate plasma to help save the life of someone else.
Learn more about registering to be considered for a clinical trial or learn how to donate your plasma. We can all play a part in battling COVID-19.
