AUSTIN, TEXAS — The American Association of Nurse Practitioners® (AANP) is pleased to share that the Fellows of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (FAANP) have announced the recipient of the 2024 FAANP Grant. Congratulations to Britney Broyhill, DNP, ACNP-BC, FAANP, for her project, “Closing the Gap: NP-Driven Enhanced Prenatal Protocol for Black Maternal Hypertension.”

Broyhill serves as the first chief advanced practice executive for Atrium Health. In this role, she is responsible for clinical and operational optimization of advanced practice, engagement, communication, oversight of regulatory compliance, outcomes and overall strategy of more than 2,500 advanced practice providers across four states. Broyhill is a founding board member and past president of the Association of Post Graduate APRN Programs (APGAP), the national advocacy organization for APRN fellowships. In 2019, Britney received Atrium Health's Pinnacle Award, the most prestigious award given by the organization, recognizing outstanding contributions and commitment to improve health, elevate hope and advance healing for all.

Established in 2017, the $5,000 FAANP Grant is awarded annually to one or more Fellows in good standing for the completion of a project within 18 months. This project must highlight the work of nurse practitioners (NPs) and further the contributions of the FAANP. The project focus is to fall within one of the four categories of the AANP Research Agenda 2023 - 2028, published in the Journal of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (JAANP). Applicants must explain how the project fits within the needs identified in the research agenda framework. Projects may include primary and secondary analysis of research data, policy analysis, implementation of clinical innovations or practice models to improve health outcomes and the development and testing of educational interventions or point-of-care technologies.

Fellows interested in applying for a 2025 FAANP Grant should prepare for the program to open in the fall of 2024.
