The American Association of Nurse Practitioners® (AANP), as a member-driven organization, relies on nurse practitioner (NP) leaders from within AANP to guide the association — and one way AANP members do so is by running for elected office and voting in elections. This year, the AANP Election takes place March 2-31. All AANP members eligible to vote will receive an email with ballot instructions on the first day of voting.
Meet the candidates, learn what positions are on the 2026 ballot and hear from NPs as to why it is so important to advocate together as part of AANP. As Vice Chair of the Nominations Council, Beth Kuzma, DNP, FNP-BC, explains — “As nurse practitioners, our collective leadership shapes the future of our profession and the patients we serve. By voting in the AANP Election, you have a direct impact on the future and direction of our profession, strengthening our association’s mission and ensuring our voices are represented at every level. Your participation is essential to keep our organization thriving.”
This year, NPs are running for president-elect, recording secretary and directors for regions 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10. Those elected to these positions will serve on the AANP Board of Directors. Candidates are also running for positions on the AANP Nomination Council and for state liaison in regions 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11.
