National Nursing Organizations Express Concern Over Executive Order on Vaccines

AUSTIN, TEXAS — The undersigned national nurse practitioner organizations express our strong concerns over the August 10, 2026, Executive Order — which recommended changes to the childhood and adolescent vaccine schedule — and urge the Administration to rescind this policy.

Each day, nurse practitioners educate patients on the importance of vaccines and administer vaccinations to keep patients safe and healthy. Undermining trust in vaccine recommendations will increase the rates of vaccine-preventable illnesses, lead to further confusion and hesitancy on the part of patients, and increase burden on clinicians, practices and health systems. We strongly urge the Administration to rescind this policy and return to the practice of ensuring that any proposed changes to the vaccine schedule are transparent and evidence based.
