The NP’s Guide to Helping Patients Reach Lipid Targets
This practical handout for the NP includes helpful information about the evaluation of patients with lipid abnormalities, risk assessment and treatment decision-making, and strategies for mitigating and managing side effects of statins. Resources are provided for managing the cost of medications.

Pneumococcal Vaccination Across the Lifespan Integrating Vaccine Recommendations
This informative handout for the NP provides a summary of the FDA-approved pneumococcal vaccines as well as the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommendations for their use. Handy resources in this tool include QR codes that direct you to CDC information and the PneumoRecs VaxAdvisor clinical app which will help you make a quick and accurate determination as to which, if any, pneumococcal vaccination is appropriate for your patient.

This FAQ-based educational handout is designed to support NPs as they engage in discussions about aging, cognitive changes and Alzheimer’s Disease with their patients and their loved ones. Content includes helpful information about normal age-related changes in cognition and of those that may be related to dementia, along with a summary of self-help activities and resources.

Major Depressive Disorder: What You Need to Know
This visually engaging educational handout is designed to support NPs as they engage in shared decision-making conversations with their patients about major depressive disorder (MDD). The handout provides information about MDD symptoms, risk factors, self-help strategies, medications and available resources.

Importance of Preventing Meningococcal Disease Handout
This engaging patient handout can be given out to help parents and patients understand the risks and symptoms of serogroup B meningococcal disease, as well as how to prevent it with the recommended vaccines for ages 11-23. The ultimate goal of this handout is to give parents and patients the information they need to make an informed decision about the serogroup B meningococcal vaccine.

Oral Health
Interprofessional Oral Health Faculty Toolkits — Produced by New York University and Oral Health Nursing Education and Practice (OHNEP), these innovative, online resources are based on interprofessional oral health core competencies and offer faculty and clinicians the insights needed to help increase access to oral health care and improve outcomes for patients.
Vaccinations
- Adolescent Vaccination: Provides resources and professional tools highlighting the importance of vaccination to protect U.S. adolescents from vaccine-preventable diseases and supporting a comprehensive approach to improving vaccination rates. Information is available for the general public, health care professionals and media.
- Adult Vaccination: Provides standards for adult immunization practice, adult vaccine recommendations and strategies for increasing adult vaccination rates. Information is available for health care professionals and patients.
- #HowIRecommend Video Series: Offers a number of videos from a variety of health care providers and on a number of different topics, including effectively recommending vaccinations, addressing safety questions from patients and discussing side effects. There is also a complete playlist of NP-created videos featuring AANP members!
- Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Vaccination: Provides information about HPV, including which populations should receive the vaccine and side effects. Additional resources for health care providers include social media posts and graphics, as well as strategies for boosting HPV vaccination rates.
- 2020 Immunization Schedules: Provides the 2020 adult and adolescent immunization schedules via the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Additional resources for health care providers are also available, including vaccine safety, storage, administration and standards.
- Vaccine 2D Barcode Scanning Implementation Toolkit: Provides resources to support the implementation of vaccine 2D barcode scanning. Tools were developed for various roles in ambulatory clinics, health care facilities, pharmacies and health systems, as well as for various phases of implementation. Documents include:
