This comprehensive course offers a hands-on opportunity to learn essential procedures for the inpatient hospital, emergency and transport settings. Didactic training will include central venous and arterial access, airway management, thoracostomies and thoracentesis with ultrasound guidance. Taught by expert faculty, this course is appropriate for nurse practitioners (NPs) at all experience levels. Earn 8.0 contact hours of continuing education (CE) credit upon completion, pending accreditation review by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners® (AANP).

    Hospital and Emergency Procedure Course

    Whether you are an NP working as a hospitalist or you practice in an emergency care setting, attending this event will help you further develop vital skills. Attend this in-person event to learn key emergency procedures concepts, increase your competence and identify evidence-based ways to ensure positive outcomes for patients. Progress through the course with your colleagues as you master each skill from airway management to chest procedures — and enjoy a networking lunch with other attendees.

    CE Credit: This educational activity is undergoing an accreditation review by AANP for approval of up to 8.0 contact hours of CE credit.

    Eligibility: Membership in AANP is not required to register for the AANP Hospital and Emergency Procedure Course.


    Course Objectives

    Attendees will increase their knowledge of the following:

    • Airway management with fiberoptic intubation.
    • Ultrasound-guided arterial line insertion.
    • Ultrasound-guided central venous catheter insertion.
    • Needle and tube thoracostomy, including hand typing for securing tubes.
    • Ultrasound-guided thoracentesis.

    A housing link will be included in your event registration confirmation email. Special conference rates, beginning at $229 (single/double) plus taxes and fees per night, will be honored for conference registrants and their families for reservations covering lodging between Monday, Sept. 4, and Monday, Sept. 11, based on availability. Make plans to arrive early or stay after to enjoy all that Austin and the surrounding area have to offer.

    All reservations must be made by Wednesday, Aug. 16, or before the block is sold out, whichever comes first. Beware of third-party room poachers misrepresenting themselves as travel agents.
