AUSTIN, TEXAS — The American Association of Nurse Practitioners® (AANP) understands the value of mentorship between nurse practitioner (NP) leaders and the next generation of NPs. Facilitating the mentor and mentee relationship was one of the stated purposes of the Fellows of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (FAANP) program when it was established by AANP in 2000. The FAANP Career Advancement Program fulfills this purpose by pairing qualified applicants seeking one-to-one mentorship with an AANP Fellow.

“The FAANP mentorship initiative, founded upon the treasured and celebrated model that has been time-tested through the ages, is a unique opportunity to grow professionally and personally through an AANP-sponsored program,” said FAANP Career Advancement Program Committee Chair Kathleen McCoy, DNSc, APRN, PMHNP-BC, PMHCNS-BC, FNP-BC, FAANP. “Every NP deserves a mature, well-equipped NP mentor — a model of how to grow and attain positive professional and personal outcomes. The FAANP Career Advancement Program Committee warmly welcomes each of the mentors and mentees to the 2023-2024 cohort.”

AANP is now honored to announce the 2023 FAANP Career Advancement Program cohort. FAANP has accepted 20 qualified NP mentees with diverse backgrounds from across the U.S. to pair with 20 Fellows. Applicants accepted into this program will work with their mentor for approximately one year. They will work together on mutually agreed upon dyadic goals to be accomplished during the specified time of mentorship. Regardless of the project, these mentors and mentees will discuss issues in a disciplined, solutions-focused manner; widen and deepen the NP network influence; elevate the NP experience and much more. The Fellows of AANP are excited to guide and promote the development of these 20 mentees.

Those interested in becoming a mentor or mentee are invited to discover the mutually rewarding benefits of the FAANP Career Advancement Program. Details about the annual application cycle are available on the FAANP Career Advancement Program website.
